Hiking Therapy

This groups goal is to educate clients on coping skills and self awareness. Allowing clients to have an experience on a hike while utilizing coping skills through engaging the Five senses, and identifying thoughts, emotions, body sensations, and breathing patterns. Following the group walk the leader prompts clients to identify their current mental, physical, and emotional state. Then sharing about how these skills and the outdoors could be used in their relapse prevention plan, regulating emotions, and assisting in tolerating distress.
